My family chose to move to Shaker Heights because of the public school system. We are strong supporters of its STEM training, both its arts and music programs, its athletics, and its cultural history. My children take advantage of all that Shaker has to offer. As an advocate for SH Schools, I also understand that it is not perfect. My vision is a Shaker School system where students from broad socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientations enjoy equitable learning opportunities; where students are encouraged and co-supported by teachers and parents to prepare students to be successful contributing members and leaders in society; where test scores reflect the quality of the Shaker education system; where declining student populations in Shaker and around the country is met as an opportunity. As a member of the School Board, I will:
- Ensure enhanced and inclusive educational opportunities for all students while maintaining excellence in our top students
- Strengthen critical relationships within the school district at all levels of interaction
- Support continued economic and policy transparency and accountability ensuring that our tax dollars are used to enhance all students’ success in a fiscally responsible way
